Dr. Nicholas La Puma Jr, OMD #1048Dr. Nicholas La Puma Jr, OMD #1048

Nicholas attended Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, CA focusing on sports medicine and spinal cord injury. His interest in traditional Chinese medicine was sparked after being diagnosed with Lyme disease and receiving acupuncture and herbal therapies for management of pain. Nicholas enjoys the practice of Chinese medicine because it is a gentle, natural approach to healthcare that has the ability to deliver information to specific body tissues that are hard to reach with other modalities. Nicholas has joined the Modern Acupuncture team in Reno because he is excited about bringing affordable, accessible, approachable acupuncture to the community, and increasing awareness of Chinese medicine overall. In his leisure time, Nicholas likes to climb and explore the canyons throughout Nevada, Utah and Arizona. He draws (or attempts to draw) the birds he sees while out exploring. Nicholas is a voracious reader who rereads books he loves and he also enjoys punk rock, running and has a decent meditation practice.

I tried acupuncture for the first time a few months ago, eager to find a more natural way to manage/cure/treat my sever anxiety. I wanted to try an outlet that would allow me to avoid taking meds. Since starting I’ve seen a pretty significant change, and improvements in the frequency and severity of my anxiety. I enjoy going to my treatments thanks to the relaxing/calming atmosphere of the facility, and the very friendly, professional and accommodating environment the staff also provides. Dr. La Puma also seems very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional himself, and I’m so thankful to have found such a positive alternative medicine. Thank you Modern Acupuncture!!!

I’m not one to leave reviews for companies, but I really need to share how acupuncture has improved my life. You see, I had a stroke in April of this year (2019). The stroke affected my brain function, my speech, and it completely paralyzed the left side of my body.... I had also suffered from frequent, and terrible migraine headaches. About a month into my recovery, a coworker of mine once again told me that I should try Acupuncture. “Go see Dr. Nick” she said. Even though I was still in a wheel chair at the time, I gave it shot. Being a sceptic, I thought, oh well I’m only out $70 bucks. Well, fast forward 6 months later, and I can honestly say that starting the acupuncture treatments was, and has been one of the best forms of therapy for me. Words can’t express the impact that acupuncture has had on my life. I’m convinced that the rate at which I’m recovering is in large part due to acupuncture. I’ve also not had a migraine or headache since I’ve started my acupuncture treatments. I’m so thankful for, and look forward to my weekly visits with Dr. Nick and his assistant Joanne. Thanks guys!!
