Julie attended Emperor’s College in Santa Monica and Dongguk University in Los Angeles, graduating with a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine. She became an acupuncturist after experiencing the benefits of Chinese medicine herself. She wanted to help others with a natural and holistic approach to treating and preventing disease and maintaining overall well-being.
What Julie loves about being an acupuncturist is being able to help people feel better, alleviating or resolving chronic conditions without the dependency on drugs or invasive surgery and complementing and enhancing the effects of conventional medicine.
Julie decided to join the Modern Acupuncture team because she likes the mission of making acupuncture more affordable and accessible so that more people can experience the benefits of regular treatments.
When Julie isn’t treating patients, she enjoys time with her family, reading, exercising and working on various DIY projects.
Kim is a graduate of the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley, California. Growing up in the Midwest, she was only exposed to Western medicine for any medical treatments. As she got older, she started to realize the gaps in care. Still, it wasn’t until early adulthood after a low back injury that she was introduced to acupuncture and Eastern medicine. To her surprise, the treatment provided almost full pain relief from the back pain she
was experiencing, while also bestowing additional positive effects on mood, sleep, and overall wellness. She began to notice that life just seemed to flow better the more consistent she became with receiving treatments. These personal benefits and the recognition of acupuncture’s ability to treat the totality of a person’s physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional health sparked a greater interest, and led her to California from Michigan to further her studies
in Eastern medicine.
The deeper her relationship becomes with acupuncture, the more she respects the medicine. She loves how such a subtle treatment so often has such a profound effect on a person’s
health. One of her favorite things about this medicine is helping people to realize that their ability to heal is already within, while utilizing acupuncture to give the body the nudge it may
need in the moment to remember what it is capable of. Also, as with her own experience, she enjoys witnessing people begin to notice and recognize positive changes in themselves in areas that they did not realize needed any addressing. Overall, she is captivated by
acupuncture’s ability to achieve homeostasis in the body with minimal to no side effects.
Kim decided to be part of the acupuncture team because she is excited and eager to be a part of a team who is educating the public and creating awareness around acupuncture, while making treatments more available and affordable. She subscribes to a common goal, which is to begin to see people opting for acupuncture as an initial form of treatment rather than an “alternative”.
Outside of work, you can find Kim enjoying nature and outdoor activities of all kinds. She is most content when moving her body, whether that be through dance, hiking, yoga, or a simple
run. Schedule permitting, travel and experiencing new places and cultures takes top priority.
