Meet Our Acupuncturists, L.Ac.

Athene Eisenhardt, L.Ac. Athene Eisenhardt, L.Ac.

Athene is a graduate of Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, CA. A series of childhood accidents and illness put her on a path to healing at a very young age. After Western medicine proved ineffective for her, she sought out alternative methods of treatment. Chinese Medicine and acupuncture helped her restore her health. She says she would not be here without acupuncture. She became a licensed acupuncturist so she could help others enjoy the amazing benefits and profound healing of the ancient medicine.

The thing she loves most about being an acupuncturist is seeing her patient’s pain and stress disappear in less than half an hour. She enjoys helping people reclaim their health and well being.

Athene decided to become part of the Modern Acupuncture team because she wanted to be part of an organization that is helping bring acupuncture into the 21st century.  She likes that it is becoming an accessible and affordable part of modern living.

When she isn’t working, Athene loves to backpack in the High Sierra and recently completed the 220 mile John Muir trail. She is also a musician and sound healer preparing to release a full length album of meditation music.

Scott Whitfield, L.Ac., DAOM, MQP, Zhu's Scalp Acupuncture practitioner. #AC9932Scott Whitfield, L.Ac., DAOM, MQP, Zhu's Scalp Acupuncture practitioner. #AC9932

Scott earned his Master’s degree from Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, California, and later completed his Doctorate at Five Branches of San Jose. Scott became an acupuncturist because he had a strong desire to help people in a significant way. He grew tired of the “rat race” mentality of Silicon Valley in the 90’s, and decided to pursue something more rewarding. He had long been interested in Chinese medicine through his study of Martial Arts and philosophical Daoism. This, combined with inspiration and moral support from his grandmother, drove him to study acupuncture.

The thing he loves most about being an acupuncturist is the ability to quickly use a few needles and a kind word to help improve someone’s day. He also loves the never-ending opportunity to learn and hone his skills in one of the world’s oldest and most complete systems of medicine. He’s proud to offer alternatives to opioid drugs in cases of pain management. He finds it deeply satisfying to be able to help so many people in such a profound way through acupuncture.

Scott wanted to become part of the Modern Acupuncture team because he saw distal needling revolutionize his own practice. He wants to continue to develop his skills and share them with an even broader audience. He knows that stressful modern life needs support, and Modern Acupuncture is the solution. As a life-long resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, he is well aware of the needs of the locals and visitors to the area.

When he isn’t treating patients, Scott enjoys One Wheeling, hiking, backpacking and being in quiet natural settings. He is an avid reader and has a regular meditation and Qi Gong practice. He also enjoys playing guitar, creative writing, archery, mountain biking and tabletop role-playing games.
