Meet Our Acupuncturists, L.Ac.

Dawn Taunton L.Ac. #288211Dawn Taunton L.Ac. #288211

Dawn became familiar with acupuncture upon taking a Complementary and Alternative Medicine class while studying for her bachelor’s degree in psychology. With her growing interest in different philosophies and approaches to health, this introduction motivated her to further explore Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) both on a personal and educational level. Eventually, this journey would lead her to graduate from the New England School of Acupuncture at MCPHS University with a dual Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM). Dawn is a licensed Acupuncturist with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine (BORIM) and board certified as a Diplomate of Acupuncture from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She has received further specialty training in orthopedic acupuncture with a focus on advanced dry needling. Her prior clinical experience includes treating patients at both Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain and Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) Malden Care Center. As a practitioner she feels honored to share this ancient modality of health care with others and continues to be fascinated with the body’s innate healing abilities. She loves being part of such an expansive and evolving field in medicine. When there is free time Dawn enjoys an adventurous road trip, dining out, and participating in the occasional 5k.

Andrea Calabrese, L.Ac. #264979Andrea Calabrese, L.Ac. #264979

Andrea Calabrese began training in the field of wellness when she became a Licensed Massage Therapist while living in Connecticut. Working with clients using therapeutic touch helped her to develop a deeper understanding of the human body. It also began a learning pathway toward natural health that continues throughout her life. She was introduced to Acupuncture, after moving to California, and was in awe by the tranquility she received from her first session. She trained at Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego where she obtained her Masters in Science and Oriental Medicine. She views Acupuncture as a way to enhance overall quality of life and to allow the body to function in a more optimal way. She values the option that Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine can provide for treating health conditions that are, conventionally, difficult to treat . She values the concept of treating the body as a whole and is passionate about food and lifestyle as medicine. Finding value in all forms of medicine, she became a Registered Nurse after moving to Massachusetts. As medicine evolves to be more inclusive, she hopes her understanding of both Eastern and Western theories will help to facilitate integration. She has worked in various wellness settings and loves the ease and accessibility of Community Acupuncture. She is especially excited to be working at Modern Acupuncture in Westwood because it is a beautiful environment with great people.
