Meet Our Acupuncturists, L.Ac.

Chris Tadeu, M.Ac., L.Ac. #267200Chris Tadeu, M.Ac., L.Ac. #267200

Chris is a graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture in Boston, MA. He became an acupuncturist because he had a passion and interest in learning how the body works and wanted to develop a skill that can positively affect the body’s well-being. His favorite part of being an acupuncturist is seeing his patients become the healthy version of themselves. He loves trying to puzzle out the best solution for a patient’s unique pathology.

Chris wanted to be part of the Modern Acupuncture team because he believes that bringing an affordable, accessible, and effective model to an unorganized acupuncture market will make such a difference to so many patients out there.

In his free time, Chris absolutely loves swimming, and you’ll frequently find him at the pool doing laps.  When he’s not making waves, you can usually find him having a couple of drinks with friends, playing board games, doing yoga, meditating, studying acupuncture, or watching Pixar movies.  One of his next goals is to become proficient in outdoor survival situations.

Talia Silva Santisteban, L.Ac., MSTOM #MA 275491Talia Silva Santisteban, L.Ac., MSTOM #MA 275491

Talia is a graduate of the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego Campus. When she initially began her undergraduate studies she entered with a pre-med focused major. She had the opportunity to follow many medical doctors and quickly realized patients were given a diagnosis, prescription, and/or referral. She felt she wasn’t being fair to the patients by not informing them of another alternative option. She began to seek out Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM); treating the root cause of illness, not only symptoms, made sense to her. Her favorite part of being an acupuncturist is seeing her patients regain the trust that their body naturally wants to heal and if given the right circumstances it will.

She joined the Modern Acupuncture team because the approach of making Acupuncture accessible to everyone really resonated with her. She says “If we can get more people to put interest in their health by being a member then we can start to decrease chronic pain, medication use, and daily stress. Acupuncture can finally be utilized as a first approach to health instead of as a last resort.”

When she’s not working Talia is usually outside trying to keep up with her one year old! She enjoys teaching and practicing yoga, being at the beach and feeling the sunshine. Her family always tries to make time to travel since they love learning about and experiencing new cultures.

Sharon Pae, L.Ac., MAOM #MA277469Sharon Pae, L.Ac., MAOM #MA277469

Sharon is a graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture in Boston, MA. After college, Sharon was lucky to work for a healthcare practitioner and mentor who was both an MD and licensed acupuncturist. She was awed by how he was able to integrate both Western and Eastern medicine to treat his patients, and the positive results after each treatment. Working with him, she realized there were so many more avenues to treating patients and healing people rather than just conventional Western medicine.

Her grandmother also told her she prayed her daughter would grow up to be an acupuncturist. Sharon thinks that prayer must have skipped a generation and landed on her!

Sharon's favorite part of being an acupuncturist is the ability to see each patient holistically, treating root causes rather than just symptoms. Most people see an acupuncturist after years of trying every other alternative and having Western doctors tell them the only option left is medication. Sharon loves seeing patients’ eyes light up when she tells them there is an alternative way of treatment available to them.

Sharon joined the Modern Acupuncture team because she believes it created a setting for acupuncture that is familiar and relaxing for people who have never tried acupuncture before. After all, who can say no to reclining in comfy chairs in front of scenic montages and healing your body at the same time?!

When she isn’t treating patients, Sharon likes to practice her green thumb with gardening. She also serves at her local church called Symphony. She believes that life should be treated holistically, and is forever grateful for the spiritual care she receives from her church community.
