Alexa is a graduate of the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, New York. She always knew that she wanted to be in the medical field. As a child, she always played doctor, and as she got older, the desire to help people only got stronger. Without hesitation, after high school, she started her journey as a nursing major. During her studies, her father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and shortly after lost his battle. This led her down a path of a more holistic way of healing specifically focused on the prevention of disease. After searching the internet, she came across Chinese Medicine and knew that this was precisely what she was supposed to do.
What Alexa loves most about being an acupuncturist is being able to improve quality of life and overall health, especially for those who have not been able to find relief elsewhere.
Alexa chose to be part of Modern Acupuncture because her mission is very similar. She wants to help as many people as possible, in the most effective way possible.
Outside of work, Alexa likes to read, go hiking, kayaking, and enjoy nature. But what she loves most is spending time with the people that she loves.
Daniel is a graduate of the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, New York. He was inspired to become an acupuncturist because of the positive effect that acupuncture had on various issues that he dealt with throughout his life. His favorite part about being an acupuncturist is having the ability to counteract the stress and anxiety of modern living using ancient, time-tested practices that he knows for certain will enhance someone's life.
Daniel joined the Modern Acupuncture team because the model is something that Western society has needed for a while. It doesn't just improve the lives of the people who come to us for treatment; it also attempts to advance the profession of acupuncture and enhance the lives of the people who work there.
When he’s not treating patients, Daniel enjoys hiking, drawing, reading, video games, cooking, working out, meditation, and playing board games.
Joonho is a graduate of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, New York. As a second-generation acupuncturist, he has seen amazing patient progress in his family clinic. His favorite part of being an acupuncturist is helping patients feel better physically and emotionally. Joonho decided to join the Modern Acupuncture team to broaden his learning and treatment methods.
When he isn’t treating patients, Joonho enjoys camping and off-roading.

The atmosphere the second you walk into modern acupuncture is welcoming and relaxing. Staff were friendly and extremely inviting. Daniel is my acupuncturist and he explained the whole process from start to finish and really listened to my issues and concerns. The tea upon departure is the icing on the cake :)!
Having professional and effective acupuncture so close to my home has been a true gift for me. I first tried acupuncture in 1988 after an elevator accident left me in so much pain I could not be treated by my chiropractor and the drugs the hospital gave me left me non-functional. In only 5 treatments back then the worst of my pain was relieved and I was sold on the art. The only problem was finding someplace consistent with quality that I could go to regularly. For years I have visited local physical therapy offices that sometimes had really good practitioners and sometimes had people who were well meaning but not very effective. I joined up with a year membership (best deal) in October 2019 at Modern Acupuncture in Tottenville, Staten Island. The three practitioners are each equally skilled and highly effective, conscientious and caring. There is no fall off of quality with either of them. I can go in (as I do) multiple times a week confident that my needs will be seen to no matter who is treating me! Daniel has been guiding me in the tenets of Chinese medicine to support my healthy weight loss efforts (I’m down 45 pounds as of this review) in addition to helping me regain my overall strength and stamina. Joon recently did ONE treatment for a TMJ condition I have had for over 25 years and I have NO clicking, cracking or pain there for the first time in all these years. To be able to trust all three practitioners and be treated like family in a relaxing, positive and supportive setting down the block from my home is truly amazing! I encourage all to give Modern Acupuncture a try (they offer a free first session). For those who worry, the needles used are packaged and one use only. No pain involved. Sit comfortably in the high tech massage chairs, watch the serene videos of nature sights around the world and drift off for awhile and relieve yourselves for a little while from the daily stresses around us! Thank you everyone at Modern Acupuncture Staten Island, NY!!!
The staff is professional and knowledgeable. I am going on my third month and I notice such a big difference in how I feel today compared to when I first started. I am getting the glow and overall health and I must say i feel energized every time I leave. The ambiance is so relaxing it’s like your at a spa. The relaxation definitely helps my mental health also. So I must say you can take care of so many aspects of your health all in one place. I’m glad to have this close to home. Thank you to the wonderful staff.
Great people.......Great treatments......Great concept. They have expanded and changed my life forever.....Deep relaxation and meditation is now a daily part of my life.
What a wonderful place. Four visits and my back pain is melting away. Amazing. And the bonus is thirty minutes of Zen in our crazy lives. I never want my session to end. Bravo
