Meet Our Acupuncturists, L.Ac.

Anna Recun, L.Ac. #AC60886575Anna Recun, L.Ac. #AC60886575

Anna learned the art of acupuncture at the Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. She completed a deep and comprehensive undergraduate (Bachelor degree) and postgraduate study (Master degree) program there. The entire program was taught in Chinese.

When she was 15 years old she accidentally came across a book about acupuncture. She learned that by massaging points located on the feet it is possible to treat headaches, abdominal pain and even back pain. This knowledge was a miraculous change in her life and that's how her interest in Chinese Medicine began.

Every summer for 12 years Anna attended Qigong retreats at the Shaolin Monastery and spent a few years learning directly from the Master after graduating from University.

Anna’s favorite thing about acupuncture is that it offers a holistic approach to health. She enjoys helping her patients improve their energy levels and health, and get rid of discomfort and pain, in addition to improving skin tone and reducing wrinkles. She loves to create treatment plans specifically for each and every patient, based on her findings. She believes that by returning to the classical roots of Chinese Medicine, we can resolve a lot of problems in modern life.

Anna became part of the Modern Acupuncture team because she is very interested in learning advanced healing techniques to better diagnose patients, resolve difficult cases, and speed up the healing process. She learned about the DNA method used in Modern Acupuncture clinics and thought it would be a great idea to master it, because most of the time patients experience immediate pain relief.

When she isn’t treating patients, Anna enjoys practicing Tai-chi and Qigong, tea ceremonies, hiking, skiing, and salsa dancing.

Alexander Tao, L.Ac. #AC60704819Alexander Tao, L.Ac. #AC60704819

Alex is a graduate of Bastyr University.  He grew up in the Seattle area and has always been very active. Throughout his childhood, he was a dedicated athlete and that passion for healthy, active living continued well into adulthood. This early involvement with physical activity and injury began to pique his interest in muscles, movement, and healing. This interest, in conjunction with his cultural Chinese background led him to pursue a career in acupuncture.

Alex’s favorite part about being an acupuncturist is helping patients get the relief they need to live active and healthy lives. He enjoys using his knowledge of East Asian medicine and acupuncture to create individually tailored healthcare plans to ensure that each of his patients receive the specialized treatment they need.

He decided to become part of the Modern Acupuncture team because he was interested in the innovative concept they engineered. He wanted to be part of spreading and growing this new unique and cutting-edge treatment style.

When he is not treating patients, Alex cherishes his time with his wife, praising the Lord, and hanging out with family. For exercise he plays tennis and other net sports, swims in pools or lakes, and hikes the beautiful Northwest.

Rokhsareh Mohammadi, L.Ac, MD (Iran) #AC00002715Rokhsareh Mohammadi, L.Ac, MD (Iran) #AC00002715

Rokhsareh is a graduate of Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA. She was previously an MD in Iran and while in practice she noticed that the medications prescribed to “cure” illnesses came with many side- effects. She wanted to find a way to treat patients without side-effects. She also wanted a more wholistic approach to care which is how she came to acupuncture.  Her favorite part about being an acupuncturist is being able to treat all aspects of the person - mind, body, and emotions can all be addressed with acupuncture.

Rokhsareh decided to be part of the Modern Acupuncture team because she liked the relaxing environment and the affordable pricing that allows more people to get acupuncture.

When she isn’t treating patients, Rokhsareh enjoys reading books, cooking, spending time with her husband and son, biking and enjoying the Pacific Northwest views.

Julia LaBarge, EAMP #60318130Julia LaBarge, EAMP #60318130

Julia is a graduate of the Florida College of Integrative Medicine. When she was introduced to the principles of East Asian Medicine, it just made sense to her: if the body’s balance is restored, healing naturally occurs. Acupuncture was instrumental in her own healing process, and after experiencing profound results, she knew she had to learn more and share it with others.

Her favorite part of being an acupuncturist is helping people find more freedom and ease in their bodies, contributing to happier, healthier living.

While acupuncture is an ancient medical practice, it is still relatively new to American culture. Julia believes that Modern Acupuncture is at the forefront of educating the public on the science behind acupuncture and its myriad of benefits. She is proud to part of the movement that is making acupuncture accessible to all.

When she isn’t treating patients, Julia enjoys spending time in nature and hiking with her dogs. She has a regular yoga and meditation practice and loves to cook. Travel is a lifelong passion; Julia seeks new places, people, experiences, and cuisines. Overall, she loves variety, and welcomes anything that will enhance the joys of life!

I have been going to Modern Acupuncture in Bothell for 3 weeks now and I truly appreciate this amazing place! It's a lovely, peaceful environment and the practitioners have all been wonderful. I have had Rokhsareh and Alex several times and they are very kind and caring people. The acupuncture has helped me with the stress, bleeding and diarrhea of ulcerative colitis and a trigger thumb that was swollen and painful. My thumb is now so much better and functional, and the symptoms of ulcerative colitis have eased up. I have to highly recommend Rokhsareh for her support and advice concerning my diet which has also been very beneficial. I have had acupuncture several times in the past but the expense was prohibitive to continue. I can highly recommend Modern Acupuncture to all my family and friends. It is a brilliant idea to make it affordable and accessible to everyone. I truly hope this place flourishes and is blessed with great success!

I would like to recognize Sarah G., the front office receptionist at the Bothell clinic. She is great. She is always on top of things when I arrive. When she sees me she checks me right away without having me wait to get in. This place and the staff have changed my life. I can't say enough how much I have appreciated all of them and the treatments I have received. I will continue going and also let all of my family and friends know what a wonderful, calming and peaceful place this is and the staff are all amazing. Thank you so much, Sarah, for all of your help every time I come in. You are great!!!!

I have been going to Modern Acupuncture now since July 2019. This was my first time doing this and I have to say it has been an amazing experience. I find I miss it when I am not there. I have enjoyed both Roya and Alex. Both of them have made me feel comfortable, they explained everything in great detail and just helped me through this process. Such a great place with a wonderful team. Thank you for making me feel so at ease with everything. The pain and discomfort I was experiencing when I started have improved this last month. I would highly recommend Modern Acupuncture at any time to all my friends and family. Thank you, Thank You!

I am finally sleeping again. Anxiety has got the best of me and I was looking for a holistic treatment. A friend recommended I try acupuncture and I'm so glad I did. The staff is wonderful and the clinic is beautiful. I always look forward to my session.

I had never had acupuncture and my first visit to Modern Acupuncture in 228th in Bothell was exceptional. They explained everything to me asked me great questions about my health and made me feel at ease. The environment was also exceptional with large screen TVs overhead showing calming landscapes around the world. The reclining chairs are heated and give you rotating massage while you rest for the 20 minute treatment. Everyone was extremely professional and friendly. It was very clean and when you leave they give you a calming large cup of your favorite tea. So far the treatments have helped my neck lower back arthritic hands energy and sinuses. I should go more often for treatments but my schedule only allows a few times a month. I highly recommend Modern Acupuncture for your health needs and I wish to thank them for making me feel so much better and for offering an environment that is a 10+ in my book
