Rocio De La Rosa, L.Ac. #0002311Rocio De La Rosa, L.Ac. #0002311

Rocio is a graduate of Tri-State College of Acupuncture. After suffering from her own health issues, she went in search of wellness and was led to acupuncture. She loves watching patients get better and take charge of their own health with acupuncture and healthy eating.

She joined to Modern Acupuncture team because she strongly believes in the community-style model and that acupuncture should be accessible to everyone as a way to improve health and prevent decline.

When she isn’t treating patients, Rocio enjoys hiking, kickboxing, reading, traveling and cooking.

Amber Sanchez L.Ac, Dipl.Ac. (NCCAOM) #ACU.0002458Amber Sanchez L.Ac, Dipl.Ac. (NCCAOM) #ACU.0002458

Amber graduated from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, CA. Following her passion for medicine, as an undergraduate at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Amber took pre-medical courses thinking she would go on to traditional medical school. However, it was during her studies at CU, that she was introduced to an acupuncturist who owned a practice where she later worked. Here, she was fascinated and fell in love with the idea and practice of acupuncture. She could see the incredible health benefits gained by treating the body as a whole and decided to embark on the journey, which led to her career as an acupuncturist.

Amber chose to join Modern Acupuncture because it is a practice model that is helping to bridge the gap between holistic medicine and traditional Western practice. Modern Acupuncture is making acupuncture more mainstream, accessible, available, and affordable for everyone to benefit from it.  Acupuncture can make a significant impact on our overall health, including our mind, body, and spirit. It helps to relax and bring our bodies into balance.  Amber intends to support this goal through her work at Modern Acupuncture.

Outside of work and treating patients, Amber loves to travel, hike, cook, and spend quality time with her family and friends.

Melissa Sawyer L.Ac, Dipl.Ac. (NCCAOM) #ACU.0002562Melissa Sawyer L.Ac, Dipl.Ac. (NCCAOM) #ACU.0002562

After graduating with a psychology degree from University of Buffalo, Melissa was drawn to the acupuncture profession for its ability to help patients to begin a life of healing and balance. In fact, Melissa had health issues of her own that originally brought her to acupuncture after Western medicine alone fell short. Through her personal healing experience with acupuncture, Melissa is inspired to heal others through holistic treatments. Melissa graduated from Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Denver; she loves being an acupuncturist and is constantly invigorated by the results she sees in her patients.

Melissa chose to join the Modern Acupuncture team because she believes wholeheartedly in the mission of “Making Lives Better,” and feels that affordable and accessible care can bring acupuncture into the mainstream.

When she isn’t treating patients, Melissa can likely be found rock climbing. Melissa is passionate about adventures. She loves traveling and staying active by dancing, skiing and hiking.

Here is a post COVID update— I am so glad they are open and it continues to be an awesome experience!! I feel very safe...they follow all good practices (everyone wears masks), they check temperature before going back and sanitize every surface before and after every patient including the door handles!! Patients are never put next to each other and most often across the room from each other if more than one person is being treated. I feel like they are taking every single possible step to keep clients safe and really going the extra mile. Kudos, and I am so glad they are open!! ————————————// It’s a great concept and a shorter visit than other places. I love the facial acupuncture. The acupuncturists are all excellent. I prefer the community environment setting like this is, and love the streaming nature videos. The chairs have light massage and heat and recline back, which works great but don’t expect any localized treatments on your back because it’s all face up in the chairs. Needles are in for 20 minutes which is the minimum needed to be effective. I bought the unlimited for a year package and so far I can always get an appointment when I want one. They are closed on Sundays.

Modern Acupuncture is seriously life changing. I get acupuncture to help with my sleep, stress and to help support my immune system. Especially right now during this pandemic, I'm especially grateful that Modern Acupuncture is open, so I can get treatments. I'm an essential worker and I also have asthma, so acupuncture has definitely helped me with my stress relief, my sleep, and is supporting my immune system. Melissa, the acupuncturist, is awesome. 10/10 recommend coming to ModAcu Lakewood, they're all so fantastic!🙌🏻😁

I have osteoarthritis and am in constant pain. I was willing to try anything. So I signed up for a free visit. After five sessions I had TWO consecutive PAIN FREE days. No pills, no creams, no solutions. This is a very, very big deal. I haven’t had a pain FREE day in a very long time. It’s comfortable, it’s relaxing- I fall asleep most of the time- they make me tea to take with me!! Danielle and the staff are so nice, very accommodating and genuinely care. Highly recommended!!

I've been doing acupuncture with Modern Acupuncture Lakewood - Belmar for about 6 months now and my life is CHANGED. Started the sessions looking for some relief with my Migraines - after a couple weeks and TOTALLY MIGRAINE FREE (until the present day), I've learned that acupuncture can help with Anxiety and, as consequence, my sleep is better, my stress and anxiety controlled and even my skin is better (with their GLOW acupuncture). They work in a Community set up (a very fancy and relaxing one - nothing like I've seen before) and have VERY affordable memberships and packages. Besides that, their treatments are 30 minutes long, which makes a lot of sense in our VERY busy life. The Acupuncturists are amazing, the staff lovely and the owner, Danielle, is a mom and told me, more than once, that her goal with the clinic is making the lives of their patients better!! Totally recommend it!!!

I have tried many other acupuncture establishments. Modern Acupuncture in Belmar is by far the absolute BEST! The place is absolutely beautiful. From the time you walk through the door, you will be completely taken care of. The entire staff is amazing. From the front desk coordinators to the acupuncturists to the Owner, everyone is treated as an individual and they are all truly invested in each individual's wellbeing. They take time to get to know you and your needs. It is a great place to relax and heal. In addition, they take the time to make sure they keep everything very clean. They clean each and every wonderfully relaxing chair every time sometime leaves and they make sure it is ready for the next person. I feel very blessed to have found this place and the people working for Modern Acupuncture.
