Peter Caruso, L.Ac. graduated from Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine. Prior to working at Modern Acupuncture, Peter had his own practice in Florida before moving to Charlotte. Peter was introduced to acupuncture through his own knee injury. “After a severe knee injury, I found that acupuncture was the only thing that helped my recovery. I became fascinated with understanding how acupuncture worked and soon began to read everything I could get my hands on, related to the subject. After two years, I decided to begin an Oriental Medical program."
Now Peter enjoys watching the smiles on his patients as they begin to experience living a symptom free lifestyle. Peter joined Modern Acupuncture because it allows him to focus completely on treating patients. “This position allows me to see a large number of patients, see great benefit, and make a greater impact on the lives and health of others.” When he is not in the clinic treating patients, Peter enjoys trail running, backpacking, playing video games and exploring mathematical philosophy.
Maryam Koohestani, L.Ac. graduated from Yo San University of Traditional Chinese Medicine located in Los Angeles, California with a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine. She has a passion for holistic medicine and treating chronic illnesses.

Zac is a Naturopathic Physician and Licensed Acupuncturist. His passion for acupuncture stems from his family’s use of preventative medicine and holistic care when he was a child. From a young age he recalls that they always turned to herbal remedies before medication. His favorite part of being an acupuncturist is being able to treat a variety of people and conditions and he likes that Modern Acupuncture makes treatments affordable and accessible. In his free time you can find Zac cooking, traveling, exercising and spending time with his fiancé and his Pekingese.
Francy attended the Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA. She decided to become an acupuncturist to improve patient’s health in a manner that treats the cause of the illness and not just the symptoms. Hearing patients tell her how great they feel after treatment when conventional medicine didn’t help is what Francy loves the most about being an acupuncturist. Modern Acupuncture’s principals align with her own, which is why Francy decided to become part of the Modern Acupuncture team. She also likes that Modern Acupuncture is a place where patients can come to relax and separate from the daily stressors causing some of these illnesses. Outside of work, Francy enjoys reading, watching movies with family, swimming, and dancing.
