Meet Our Acupuncturists, L.Ac.

Rachelle Smith, L.Ac., #362Rachelle Smith, L.Ac., #362

Rachelle attended acupuncture school at the Florida College of Integrative Medicine. She decided to become an acupuncturist when she was half way through her pre-med degree and realized that most of her classmates were more interested in the degree than being able to work with patients on what she believes to be the most important part of their life- their health. She began to do her research and found a medicine that truly encompassed when she believed offered true healing- acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. The thing she loves most about being an acupuncturist is “having an infinite tool kit to help patients.” She loves that she has access to a medicine that is both powerful and gentle, and she gets to guide her patients toward their health goals. Rachelle decided to become a part of the Modern Acupuncture team because it allows her to focus on her patients and give the gift of health to more people without sacrificing patient care. Moving to Nashville to be close to her husband’s family was also a bonus for her. Outside of work, Rachelle and her husband enjoy being in the woods hiking waterfalls and camping under the stars. They have also extended their love of outdoors to their 4 year old son, who has been camping since he was 6 months old.

Kristen Verea, L.AcKristen Verea, L.Ac

Kristen is a Licensed Acupuncturist who began her young adult life heading in an entirely different direction. She majored in Global Studies (International Relations) as an undergraduate at the University of Tennessee and planned on working in International Law. She attended Vanderbilt University Law School for one year before realizing that she was far more interested in giving her classmates vitamins or helping them make their microwave ramen lunches healthier than she was in studying law. As she grew and developed further in her path, she got deeper and deeper into the study of Health and the mind-body connection and gravitated to Chinese Medicine through her own healing experience with it. Ultimately, she graduated from Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine in the beautiful mountains of Sugar Grove, NC, and has never looked back! Kristen is interested in the health of the whole person- body, spirit, and mind. She loves practices that help her connect with her body and spirit- including yoga, pilates, running, biking, hiking, and playing fetch with her 2 miniature poodles, Cora and Kiko. Kristen has visited over 20 countries and plans to continue having travel adventures with her husband, Alfred, well into the future!

Rachel S. (Brentwood, TN) - 7/12/2021

I had my baby on Sunday evening, the 27th of June! She was born at 10:48pm. I was scheduled to be induced the next morning at 8am, so that was a huge answer to prayer for our home birth! I really think the acupuncture and homeopathic remedies you suggested helped immensely. My labor was 1.5hrs, and I was dilated to 6 before labor even started. The midwife tried to break my water and couldn’t, but her trying put me into immediate labor! It was wild to say the least, ha! I’m definitely looking forward to my next session!☺️

Adam at reception was lovely (as well as Sam) I was running late for an appointment with a friend and Adam accommodated us so well. He told me to drive safe when I was speeding to get there on time (ps if you live in franklin it's 20 mins away NOT 12 lol) I wish I would have asked more questions of my provider. The first time I had acupuncture was in the summer and it was cold out during my service here. I didn’t consider wearing shorts and a tank top like my first time 😬🙃 wish I would have removed my headband or shirt (I had a tank on) to experience the full benefits (I'm also a novice). Environment was great but ask your provider questions. They may not be experienced enough on asking potential uncomfortable questions (removing headband or a shirt).

Considering this was my first "community experience" with acupuncture, I was pleasantly surprised. The front desk person was knowledgeable, and the treatment specialist was kind. Also, the environment was clean and there were tons of Covid precautions in place. I'd say it's worth a try if you are on the fence.

Michael C. (Brentwood, TN) - 10/23/2020

I started sessions here for stress, anxiety, nerve damage, and muscle aches. My only experience with acupuncture prior to this was an experimental program the Army had for soldiers suffering from TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). While the program was effective, it didn't last forever. Modern Acupuncture has been a life-saver. The sessions are painless, and I feel real relief. Today I walked out feeling ten years younger. I was pain free and mentally focused. I can't say enough good things about the staff and facility. It's a positive experience from the smile and greeting you receive at the door to the professional acupuncturist who will literally change your life. I look forward to treatment here for years to come.

Heidi B. (Brentwood, TN) - 1/21/2020

Modern Acupuncture was my first experience with acupuncture. From the moment I walked in, I felt at ease. The staff is very welcoming and explained the process...making note of why I was there and how this could help. In addition, I really love the vibe of the studio. It's very relaxing and perfect for a moment of zen.
