Blake is a graduate of AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine. After personally experiencing the amazing benefits of acupuncture she wanted to learn more. Her desire was to share the effective, yet often unknown and underutilized healing therapy with as many people as possible. Her favorite part of being and acupuncturist is being able to promote healing naturally and alleviate pain quickly, without the use of surgery or drugs.
She wanted to join Modern Acupuncture because she saw it as an innovative concept that is making the healing practice of acupuncture accessible to the masses. She feels that it will impact our health care system for the better, and accel the acupuncture profession. She feels honored to be a part of this pioneering and healing team
When she’s not working, Blake enjoys reading fiction books, socializing with friends, eating good food and seeking out new experiences.
Tomoya is a graduate of the Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Austin, Texas. After suffering from chronic health problems earlier in life, Tomoya turned to acupuncture and found the greatest relief. He now wants to help others regain their health with acupuncture as well. His favorite part of being an acupuncturist is helping people smile again because they are feeling better. He is excited to be part of the Modern Acupuncture team to spread the word about the benefits of acupuncture to a vast number of people. When he’s not working, Tomoya enjoys playing tennis and cooking.
Kayla has been interested in medicine and helping people heal from a young age, declaring herself “pre-med” in middle school. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science from the University of Texas at Austin with focuses in Human Anatomy & Physiology. While applying to medical schools, Kayla worked at a retinal surgery center and realized she wanted to pursue a more holistic approach to treating the imbalances of the body. Kayla received both her Master’s and Doctorate degrees from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine in
Austin, TX. While at school, she was part of the inaugural resident group treating veterans at the Austin Outpatient Clinic as part of a collaboration with the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the importance of acupuncture’s role in pain management for those with opioid dependence. Kayla loves how acupuncture taps into the body’s natural ability to heal itself throughout all the body systems.
Kayla decided to join the team at Modern Acupuncture because she loves the idea of presenting acupuncture from a modern perspective. She believes that demystifying this ancient medicine and making it more accessible and affordable to the public will ultimately help so many more people.
Kayla has always been active as a swimmer, runner, cyclist, and has been practicing yoga for over 15 years. In her spare time, Kayla loves eating, hiking, and camping around Texas with her husband and their energetic Border collie/Aussie pup!
Kim is a graduate of the Academy of Oriental Medicine, Austin. Her dramatic personal experience of going through her father's treatment for esophageal cancer is what led her to acupuncture school. Through her relentless queries on the complications and suffering her father went through, she became aware of the mistakes made in the hospital and heard many similar stories. This fostered mistrust in allopathic medicine. With a father who was an herbalist in Oriental medicine, she wishes she would have gone that route for his final stages of life. She feels that becoming a practitioner of Oriental Medicine is kind of a form of self-redemption. A lucrative first career in Information Technology enabled her to make the career change
Her favorite part of being an acupuncturist is seeing her patient’s results. They continually reaffirm her trust in the effectiveness of acupuncture & Oriental Medicine. She loves to hear the remarks of relief:
"I walked out feeling so different after the treatment!"
"I can move my neck again!"
"I took your advice in incorporating walking in my life. Now it is part of my daily routine. And with acupuncture, I had for the last eight years bid farewell to the regular cortisone injections I used to have for my pain."
"My chiropractor was amazed at the result of your treatment that he asked me to come back to you again."
Kim joined the Modern Acupuncture team because she grew tired of all the administrative requirements of running a practice. She is relieved to be able to focus on the part that she enjoys the most.
When she isn’t treating patients, Kim enjoys gardening and is an active participant in her community garden, reading, particularly biographies of US presidents, self-study on areas of research in neural science and general life science, and Learning more about ancient Chinese literature.
Erik is a graduate of the Texas Health and Science University. His father has a unique medical condition that makes him very sensitive to most exposures in the modern world. In pursuit of ways to build up his health, Erik found acupuncture and has been able to help his father. His favorite part of being an acupuncturist is helping others overcome health challenges, sometimes very quickly.
Erik joined the Modern Acupuncture team because it was a new way of practicing what he learned, and it allows him to work with many people to improve their lives.
When he isn’t treating patients, Erik enjoys calisthenic exercise, rock climbing, reading, and has recently taken up metal crafting.

I can't say enough good things about Modern Acupuncture. I am nearing the end of my first trimester and discovered MA when I was about 7 weeks pregnant. I was suffering with the worst nausea I have ever experienced, sleeplessness, and constipation (sorry if this is TMI). Acupuncture has been essential for helping me feel like a normal person. After just 1 week, my nausea was more manageable, BM's more frequent, and sleep more sound. Side note, don't expect acupuncture to work in one visit. I went every day for the first week and every other day for the second. By the third week, I could essentially go as needed. The entire team is utterly amazing. Dr. Blake, Dr. Kayla, and Henry always take excellent care of me and make me feel heard and cared for. I highly recommend MA for anyone who may be considering acupuncture as an alternative therapy for pregnancy related symptoms, pain, etc.
This place is AMAZING!! Dr. Blake is the best part of it. Her technique relaxes to no end. All of your pain, stress, anxiety and fears will melt away with one touch from her. This was my first experience with acupuncture and she made sure I felt at ease and blew me away with how all of my issues were immediately non issues with one touch of her needles. I couldn’t believe how painless it was. I’m in love. So looking forward to my next session. There’s nothing better than this. Please try it out. You will not be sorry.
