John Tae-kwon Kim, L.Ac., Dipl. OM. #AC01261John Tae-kwon Kim, L.Ac., Dipl. OM. #AC01261

John is a graduate of the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin in Austin, TX. He was exposed to acupuncture at a young age by his family members who were practitioners. He always wanted to be in healthcare and believes in the benefits of holistic and natural medicine. His favorite part about being an acupuncturist is being able to treat patients in a powerful and effective way that is also natural and holistic.

John decided to become part of the Modern Acupuncture team so he could play a part in exposing a vast number of people to the benefits of acupuncture.

When he’s not working, John enjoys playing golf.

Maria Ashby, TX L.Ac, MSOM, LMT #AC00751Maria Ashby, TX L.Ac, MSOM, LMT #AC00751

Maria is a graduate of AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine. Maria decided to become an acupuncturist after working as a massage therapist inside an acupuncture clinic. She saw that patients were getting excellent results after only a few acupuncture treatments.

Her favorite part of being and acupuncturist is helping patients recover from physical traumas or difficult medical conditions. She also loves helping them improve their overall wellness.

Maria chose to be part of the Modern Acupuncture team because she heard great things and wanted to learn more about how acupuncture is practiced in this setting. She had been on her own in practice since 2004 and wanted to be part of this company.

When she isn’t working, Maria enjoys hiking, jogging and taking walks.

Erik Jackson, L.Ac. #AC01296Erik Jackson, L.Ac. #AC01296

Erik is a graduate of the Texas Health and Science University. His father has a unique medical condition that makes him very sensitive to most exposures in the modern world. In pursuit of ways to build up his health, Erik found acupuncture and has been able to help his father. His favorite part of being an acupuncturist is helping others overcome health challenges, sometimes very quickly.

Erik joined the Modern Acupuncture team because it was a new way of practicing what he learned, and it allows him to work with many people to improve their lives.

When he isn’t treating patients, Erik enjoys calisthenic exercise, rock climbing, reading, and has recently taken up metal crafting.

The space is clean and beautiful, with a pristinely clean entrance. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. They asked questions about my diagnosis and were eager for me to try this "last resort" as several of their patients call it. The introductory session was free, and they give a "heroes" discount. Treatment is in a large, elegant, shared space with controlled lighting and relaxing music. Beautiful nature scenes are displayed on the screens in front of each seat, and a curtain divides seating. The request to use "whisper voices" is made before entrance into the treatment area to maintain the relaxing ambiance. The certified acupuncturist had a calm demeanor and was through in his routine to maintain cleanliness. He made a treatment plan, and options to fulfill it were discussed. Overall this was a very positive and calming experience.

I've been going here for several months now, and I absolutely love this place!!! The owners are wonderful and caring people, the acupuncturists are amazing, and I always feel a million times better and look much younger when I'm consistently getting my acupuncture in! Literally works for any health or beauty issue I have...one stop shop! Plus comfy chairs and relaxing environment, where I can decompress while enhancing my health... that's just an added bonus 🙂 Will definitely make this a priority in 2020!

After suffering temporary facial paralysis due to a benign acoustic neuroma brain tumor surgery, similar to bells palsy, I was referred by my chiropractor and several family friends to acupuncture. My wife found Modern Acupuncture after doing some research and came to find out that the first visit was FREE! She signed me up without informing me, go figure lol, and I went in on December 4th, 2019 for the first time. To put in perspective, my brain surgery occured on October 29, 2019 and had been suffering from facial paralysis since then. After just a couple visits, I could feel my right eyebrow and right side of my lip twitching ever so slightly!! I know it will take time and I have only been to less than a dozen visits as of right now, but have full confidence that they are helping speed up the process in a non-evasive way that encourages the body to do what it already does, HEAL! BUT, this particular location or acupuncture would not be the same if it were not for the owner of this place - Ryman Peters. The second I walked in through his doors he greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel so relaxed. Especially, going in fully knowing that needles were to be placed into my body in an ungodly manner lol. Mr. Peters TOOK THE TIME to know his client, ME! That is the difference in any business or any store. We as clients are just dollar bills going into a revolving door, with no connection to anyone. Mr. Peters actually WANTS to know your story. It is impossible to learn everyone's story as he has to run a business, but the simple fact that he TRIES to does make a difference. Mr. Peters and I, in my short time there, are actual friends. His southern hospitality is most welcoming and with the anxiety of needles making you tingle, it is much needed haha. I thank him and his dedicated team for their efforts to restore me back to full health after my brain tumor surgery.
